I’m cleaning the car tomorrow, plus packing for a few family nights away up north next week.

Oooh where in the north are you going?

We’re taking the kids up to York. I’ve walked over most of Yorkshire but have never made it to the city itself, so it’ll be a first for us.

Yorks lovely! The shambles is gorgeous and they had a great chocolate shop there when I went

York's lovely. This year we took our kids on a tour of God's own country and stayed in Sheffield (where I went to university), York (where my wife went to university) and Whitby for the fish and chips!

Local park needs volunteers removing some hawthorn so I'm gonna go get my arms scratched up, and then I'm helping my dad clear out his garden with trips to the skip

That's a really nice thing to do thanks for doing it

Well, I do it more for the exercise, and the park warden's a pretty funny guy.

Off to the theatre tonight: a stage production of Alison Bechdel's Fun Home.

I want to get the garden furniture out of the shed and resurrected tomorrow (sorry folks, I expect that it'll be freezing rain for the next month once I do). The usual chores and then film night. I think it's my choice this time. Maybe Mickey 17.

Then there is a coast walk that we have failed to do for a few weeks now. If the weather does hold, then that on Sunday.

I've heard good things about Mickey 17, enjoy!

There's a reason for that - it's really good.

Working on a deck in back garden. Looks like the weather will be favourable.

Sounds like a good day! Don't forget suncream

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I forgot suncream the other day. I will not make that mistake again. Until next Spring, anyway.

I feel for you sunburn is awful. I burn horribly, so I spend summer gleaming with the stuff.

I'm a ginger, so take vampire-grade sun precautions. The other day someone said "make sure you put on your Factor 50", which was confusing as I've been doing that for a month. Before it was common, I used to get it on prescription - it had the look and consistency of white paint.

You even have me beat, kudos.

Not a bad goal. Talking of survival makes me think of this:

An image of Simon Pegg from the movie "Shaun of the Dead", sitting in a pub, drinking a pint of beer. The image has a caption which says: "Go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for all of this to blow over".

Mini pub crawl solo tonight, run first thing then working tomorrow as it's year end apart from my dad taking me out to birthday lunch which is nice. Club night through early Sunday, catch up with friends over Jitsi Sunday morning then sleep through to the evening hopefully
