MODERATORS

Water quality along the stretch of the River Thames which will host the iconic Oxford v Cambridge Boat Race has been classified as poor by clean water campaigners, as a result of E coli from sewage pollution.

Testing carried out along the four-mile route, which the university rowing teams will tackle on Sunday, has revealed E coli levels which are three times above the threshold for poor bathing water status.

When a site is classified as “poor”, the Environment Agency advises against bathing due to the risk to human health.

They should not race.

They should drag everyone down there , get the beeb all set up - and then unfurl the banners.

If they can’t act, how can I ?

How do i report a dirty river and is anyone obligated to do anything, not related just curious

Depends on where the river is and exactly what you mean by dirty. If you are talking about pollution, who you report it to will depend on where in the UK you are. Here is some info..

If you mean litter - in the river or on the bank - then that may well be the responsibility of the landowner. More info here..

Whether anyone has a responsibility to clear it up will depend on what it is, where it is and how much of an issue it it causing.
