My husband and I have own our Nissan Leaf since 2023 and apparently in 2024 Congress passed a second registration fee on all EV cars. So on top of our annual $50 (increased from last year) registration, we also are required if we want to own an electric vehicle to pay the government $200! What the actual FUCK! This is so much bullshit for literally the future of automotive travel. We've saved so much on gas that the Leaf has already paid us back but that's some serious financial power armed against citizens who are trying to reduce their carbon footprint. Just needed to rant because we got the bill yesterday in the mail

Just FYI, this is highly state-specific. I live in PA and there is no such fee here

Hey chiming in here I live in Pittsburgh and if you haven't received a letter in the mail around the time of your registration then maybe you paid up for 2 years? This was passed last year in 2024, the link you provided hasn't been updated since 2023.

Huh. I bought my car last year. Registration was included in the purchase, so maybe I just didn't notice?
