Can you explain what is going on with your link there? It looks like a file uploaded to Catbox and then proxied through your Lemmy instance. What are the benefits of that compared to either using just Catbox or uploading directly to your instance? Is that something that I would also be able to do as a lowly end user?

People bitch and moan that catbox blocks their VPN of choice, so I proxy/cache them through Tesseract. Plus, this serves from my cloud cache taking load off of catbox's servers.

TL;DR: Tesseract can act as a pseudo-CDN
