(Photo is missing Hawaii, & Alaska that had protests too)

Just wanted to let you all know it wasn't 3 million it was 5.2 million people that protested from latest number. But it will grow a lot bigger with each protest. 5.2 million out of 347 million total population so far

Anywhere on Bluesky they say it's 5.2 million

Also let's all get more people onto these platforms/apps/websites to grow together (Most of these are on Bluesky via @)

The more united we all are in-person, & online the better. With each person on these, taking action, inspiring each other, & collaborating that makes us all stronger. Adding to the resistance with an extra person/people who can put any skills they have to use or be taught how to help. So please try these out, then get others on board, & recommend communities/organizations/people getting things done to follow/help out by doing with them

Recommendations:

(They all have entries about them on alternativeto.net as well)

  • Windows➡️Linux Mint @LinuxMint (Like Windows 10), Pop!_OS (Like MacOS), or Fedora Workstation @fedora.fosstodon
  • Android➡️LineageOS @lineageos.org, or GrapheneOS @grapheneos.org
  • Android App Stores➡️F-Droid, & Aurora Store
  • General Apps➡️Fossify apps, FUTO apps, & Proton apps
  • Chrome➡️Cromite, & Brave Browser
  • Cloud Services➡️OpenCloud https://opencloud.eu/en
  • Firefox➡️Zen Browser (Best productivity browser), & Librewolf
  • Obsidian➡️Memory
  • Reddit➡️Lemmy (Let's get people on this community, & others)
  • Discord➡️Revolt @revolt.chat
  • Twitter➡️Bluesky @bsky & Mastodon @joinmastodon
  • Slack/Telegram➡️Matrix (Via Element App) @matrix.org
  • Zoom➡️Jitsi Meet
  • Messages/Calls/File Sharing➡️Session @session-app
  • TikTok➡️Spark @sprk.so
  • Instagram➡️Flashes @flashes.blue (Android version comes the sooner the Creator hits their funding goal)
  • Facebook➡️Diaspora
  • YouTube➡️PeerTube @joinpeertube
  • Substack➡️Ghost @ghost.org
  • VRChat➡️Resonite @resonite.com (Can be played on Desktop without a VR Headset or Setup. Free on Steam as a fun way to pass time)

KDE, Tuxedo Computers, & e/OS/ make great open-source hardware.

Also a cool project to look into is Automotive Grade Linux for open-source cars. So no one tampers with what we drive

Finally, look into these:

  • Run For Something @runforsomething (If you are 40 or under Run For Something will help you run for office, but if you're over 40 they will still have resources available for you to use but won't offer guidance since they are focused on younger candidates. They help you learn and have over a 1,500+ candidates serving the U.S. today, with over 7,000+ more in pipeline out of 600,000+ positions across the whole country. They need more candidates from us. The people. So if you got the guts to learn get in there))

  • Elias Law Group @eliaslawgroup (They are basically forming the Elias Rangers Law Force (That's what I call them) fighting back against all this with many many many lawyers, & other law officials in their corner)

  • Vetsat @vetsat.bsky.social (They are veterans uniting the active duty, reserves, & retired military people against all this. If you know anyone that is military sens them there to work with them)

  • Linux Foundation @linuxfoundation/ Open Source @opensource/ Its FOSS @itsfoss (They all cover open-source, & Linux software & hardware project that can power everything and anything to be fully free)

  • Indivisible @indivisible/ 50501 @50501/ HandsOff/ Tesla Takedown/ etc (The ones that are doing these protests)

You can do it. We can do it!! Getting all of us together here and those other platforms!! Let's rise!!!

There were 122 in my little conservative town. They expected 40, so that was nice.

A win is a win especially with a 300% turnout

I am in a small town in WNC, and we had what looked to be about 300 people on the old courthouse square. Across from the square is Brown Mountain Bottle Works, which hosted the local Alcoholics for Trump meeting. There were about 8 of them. They would come out the door and yell shit but no one took the bait. It made them sad. Feel free to post a Google review if you are so inclined.

At our local demonstration, there was a group of 10 MAGA that came up to the crowd to stir shit. After a few minutes, the police encouraged them to move along.

No worries come to the next one!!

Next one is on April 19th, so 11 days from now

I'm predicting it's going to go up to 15-20,000,000

No worries come to the next one!!

If they keep being on the same day then those of us with consistent work schedules can't

Literally the one day I have a solid 8 hour shift at work is Saturday so unless the protests happen some other day I'm picking not starving over adding to the masses

amusingly, a very intelligent gentleman shouted "get a job!" from his vehicle as he passed us.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Don't lie to us, OP. Fox News wrote (after you scrolled for 5 minutes) that it was "thousands".

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 day ago

Thousands of separate protests. ;)

[–] [email protected] 29 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Meanwhile reporting on the BBC... A short segment that said "thousands" of people were protesting. Technically not a lie, but still.

[–] [email protected] 25 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

I've said it before, and I'll say it again - there were zero major media outlets at the protest I went to, which was being held in a state capitol. I have no idea what the estimated number of attendees was, but it was definitely a news-worthy amount.

I know there are people that will continue to claim that nobody in the U.S. is "doing anything," but don't be misled just because corporate media interests don't align with the interests of the people. The lack of media coverage is note-worthy on its own. If they're not talking about these public protests, imagine what else they're deliberately refusing to cover.

The revoIution will not be teIevised.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

Cell lied to me?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Not just the bbc. ABC USA was equally horrible. “There’s thousands”, cut to live reporter after rally is over on empty grass. Show almost no shots of actual mass in the report. A lot of Americans don’t realise how loyal most corporations are to this regime. Their job is not to tell you the truth, it’s is to control you for the benefit of the regime.

Mind you if you do the same again on Saturday, and keep growing, this is just a stop gap measure, and eventually protesters tend to walk into tv studios with hot cameras ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It’s often better to get an international sources. ABC Australia, used drone and chopper shots and was overall a lot less biased in their reporting. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Z6q8b2FfoqY&pp=0gcJCa8AFFPMqEg1

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 day ago

I disagree. It's misleading, therefore deception, therefore a lie. And they are doing it on purpose. It's very telling.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

5 millions for such a big country ? Those are rookie numbers, you've got to french it up

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 day ago

The size and distribution of this country is what makes big numbers impossible. We are, in reality, 50 micro-countries, all with their own laws and culture and mostly populated with poor people.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (4 children)

You don’t need to be 35* to run for office. That’s only the president.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 day ago (3 children)

They never suggested an age requirement to run for office.

They mention Run for Something—an organization that will help candidates who are less than 40 years old.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 17 hours ago

Yes that's what I meant my bad

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

I must’ve misread it then, mea culpa

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 day ago

There are age requirements for federal government positions and none of them are 40. President is 35, senator is 30, and house rep is 25.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago

Yes obviously just had 40 on the mind from the post lol

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago

That's true. And there's no age limit, upper or lower, on being progressive. But if you want funding and assistance from RunForSomething, there's a max age limit.

https://runforsomething.net/run/candidate-endorsement-process/

"Born in 1984 or later for 2025 elections"

So if you're still young enough, don't put it off! And if you're an old fart like me, you can donate. And vote. Even run, but find funding elsewhere.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 day ago

I have heart again.

[–] [email protected] 20 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Please post sources / calculations, it will give us a lot more credibility.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 day ago

Good look out added sources in the post!

This is a beautiful list of FOSS technologies - a number of which I was not aware. I bookmarked this page as I will need to revisit this list. Thank you for sharing this.

Also, I love your positivity, which can be seen in the responses you've given to comments on this post. Keep being you.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago)

No problem enjoy!! And will do I will keep the positivity up we all need it

Also recommend use of alternativeto.net to find way more if you haven't used it before. They list many alternatives and info about them for all kinds of stuff such as Platforms, Apps, Websites, tech, etc:

Here's some more:

Zen Browser (Best way to be productive online) Raindrop.io Memory (Like Obsidian)

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Is this how many people protested in a single day? A week? What's the time scale? I literally have no clue.

[–] [email protected] 21 points 1 day ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] -5 points 1 day ago

To be fair, these numbers are grossly over exaggerated. After seeing how the counting is done, which I was a part of for a regional political event.
