Surprised by the trolls that show up pretty regularly here.

We bought it immediately at release. I had been craving a Harvest Moon and I adored it. All the updates just made it even more amazing!
how is it a good investment? sure its a good game, but why is it better investment then skyrim for example?
What a weird, somewhat contrarian comment to make. If it's a good game, why wouldn't it be a good investment, as compared to any other game?
More wholesome, no DLC, free updates don't break previous systems.
Never played Skyrim ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ So, don't know about but it have so much content. It get free update every few years. It's highly moddable and a loving community what do you need more from a game.
I wouldn't say a better investment, but for me it's an equivalent investment. Both have a solid replayability on their own and both benefit from a huge assortment of gameplay enhancing mods.
I remember when I first made the switch to PC gaming, it got me back into Skyrim for a while, because the mods were a huge world to explore.
It's interesting to compare where the return-on-investment (ROI) value is coming from in both Skyrim and Stardew Valley: I feel like Skyrim's ROI comes from the ridiculously rich modding community, whereas a lot of Stardew Valley's growth has come from official content (I don't doubt that the modding scene for Stardew Valley is also rich, but the amount of official content that's been added since I last played is astounding)
Oh my friend I have suggestions! In particular, Stardew Valley Extended and Ridgeside Village add so much content to the game they could be considered non official DLC.
Skyrim is owned by Microsoft which isn't great place to be sending money. But ignoring that I don't think this is saying you can't spend on other games just that Stardew is a good option
it has multiplayer, so you can play it with your friends :)
Some games have more replayability value than others or a bigger modding community for sure, but you also have to consider personal preferences. For the person who loves action RPGs, open worlds, and doesn't really like farming simulations, Skyrim is the better investment. For the person who likes cozy games and pixel graphics but is not too big on medievalish fantasy, Stardew is the better investment. For what it is worth I like both, but currently have far more hours logged in Stardew.
Also, the meme might technically imply that Stardew > Skyrim given the kid is buying Stardew and not Skyrim, but it never explicitly compares Stardew to any other game, let alone puts a different game down.
