General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

!ukpolitics@lemm.ee appears to have vanished! We can still see cached content from this link, but goodbye I guess! :'(

What is it about carparks that attracts the scummiest scammer businesses?? Their whole business model appears to be finding new scams to rip off their customers with eye-watering fees and charges.

The people running these operations need to be made to do community service if not thrown in jail, because losing court cases doesn't seem to be stopping them.

Hey now, plenty of other industries are full of scummy people too - printer ink, crypto, paparazzi, landlords, funeral directors, the list goes on!

I, too, get frustrated by slow-ass people, but a £100 fine if you take more than 5 minutes is egregious. Especially if the technology to facilitate payment is acting as a hindrance.

This is related to phone app payments, not parking machine. No impact on the other customers.

Most car parks push to app and don't accept cash. Some don't even take card. It's a core payment method for them because they don't want to pay staff to empty them.

I wasn't talking about other customers? The fine and time limit were not proportional, especially when the payment system is inherently unreliable.

I wasn’t talking about other customers?

Who were you talking about when you said "I, too, get frustrated by slow-ass people"?

Generally speaking, slow people are frustrating.
