I'd be willing to bet money it wasn't even on purpose and they just used it that way because it's completely normal English usage that's been that way for decades. Just like I used it in that previous sentence.

They aren't happy someone noticed. They're happy someone pointed out something that can take credit for.

That's not a singular they. The Coca Cola corporation, and the subset involved in writing shooting editing and approving any ad they make, is many people.

IMO because it is (a corporation) in the singular, but it does (by the work of its employees) in the plural.
