Any good guides or discussions for setting up and running Matrix in a VPS? Been thinking on and off I should do that for a few months now (and lack of account migration means I either start with my own domain or forever use a generic).

I'll give this a try. I played around with a docker image, I got until having two test users (with docker commands...) that couldn't find each other unless referred by the exact user name, same for "public" rooms that were not discoverable, I hope this will be more straightforward
