Do you mean the annotation like @dandelion@lemmy.blahaj.zone - AFAIK it's just a way to link to the user or community, I don't think it notifies everyone. You can link using @ for users, and ! for communities, so the community equivalent is: !acnh@lemmy.world

@dandelion how the different platforms federated. I didn't realize mastodon could talk directly to lemmy, etc...
