They should wear civilian clothes and then round up the traitors when they show up and try to maim and kill more people. Then quickly take them to a tribunal before the trump party with immediate consequences.

"Government" work, "government" consequences.

there are laws that control when/where/how uniforms are worn. that also goes to not wearing them as well.

Maybe some of them, but them being highly visible and showing support for the protests is a really nice slap in the administration's face.
