I mean, you are right. It has probably already gone too far. The American population has been carefully manoeuvred into this situation deliberately by the people in power to ensure they are oppressed and inert. "I can't go on strike for the greater good of the people around me because I will lose my job and my healthcare" is exactly what they wanted people to feel.

I don't know how to "fix" this, this is the fruits of the labour of decades of work by conservatives. Maybe if things get so bad that the people are pretty much forced into a bloody revolution or civil war then that might lead to change. But that would require the army to by and large side with the people, of course. Otherwise any uprising would get squashed.
