Hello new Lemmy friends!
Word on the street tells us our community is regularly making it the all page. While this is very cool news to hear, we can see how the sudden emergence of our posts in your feed might feel jarring and probably raises some questions. And also how, without knowing the backstory, our community might appear less than virtuous, so here’s a very brief introduction which hopefully will clear a few things up.
The woman we’re discussing is a body positive influencer and media personality who has gained fame and wealth by lying, manipulating, exploiting her children for content, plagiarizing BIPOC creators and blaming her BIPOC content editor for it (thereby ruining her career), among other things. Her fraudulent behavior is no different (I’d argue worse) from the likes of Jay Shetty (google him if you don’t know who he is or what he did). She’s the latest in a long line of grifting influencers who are abusing their power, taking advantage of their position and exploiting their followers. The difference is that she’s Canadian. Our laws around social media and advertising aren’t as clear (and where they are she’s disobeyed them), add to that, our mainstream media has protected her from those who’ve tried to expose her grift and silenced/intimidated anyone who’s tried to speak out.
Our Reddit sub was taken down due to reports of copyright infringement, which is unfounded and categorically untrue as no one ever tried to steal her work and pass it off as their own. The mods have made an appeal. While at first glance it may seem like we’re just “shitting on her” the sub has been more devoted to investigation and posting proof of her lies than just bitching for the sake of bitching. The reality is that she’s hurt, manipulated and let down a lot of people. She stole intellectual property and employment, caused mental distress and has repeatedly told lies to boost engagement and profit off her audience, so people are understandably upset that their voices are being silenced.

I really feel for Meredith. Sarah Nicole Landry is sure shoving it in her face that she's the new girl. I have a feeling this will all backfire on 🐦. She's a ho.

Team Meredith!! Sarah is an awful person tearing apart another relationship, Cagla obviously sucks too but I wanna blame Sarah the most.

Right now I feel this dread though that she’s going to come out of this a winner. Everyone will applaud her for finding herself and this new life she’s creating and she’ll be this LGBTQ+ ally all while she’s really hiding that she once again broke up a relationship. It makes me sick to think about her being the winner here.
She’s not winning anything. She’s a vapid, vacant human with an unfillable need for nonstop attention and validation because she has no sense of belonging, nor a stable, consistent sense of self.
She has no personality of her own. She truly is a chameleon, and she hurts so many people along the way.
Emotional neglect and absence are incredibly harmful and abusive acts. The exploitation of her kids is as well. There will never be enough of whatever she is seeking, and in that seeking, she destroys whoever is an obstacle. That’s why her eyes look blank.
Very well said. I guess when I say a winner I more mean she won’t face any heat for what she’s done here. She’ll spin it every which way to look like she did no wrong and her dumb sheep followers will eat it up. I truly do hope this blows up on her and everyone turns on her when they see the horrible person she is.
Like Bri, quickie nails and Nb have to know what really happened here and they’re still standing by her. I’d personally have a hard time being friends with someone who just broke up a long term relationship and seems to feel no remorse.
I think she always comes out the winner because there are never any repercussions for her actions. She gets away with everything while other people have to deal with the mess, and to me that is how she is always seems to come out on top or the "winner".

I disagree. She is granted opportunities because of her fake numbers, but she never wins. She FAILS. All the time. She never wins. She failed at hosting BT, she failed and melted down over her women's heath magazine feature (showing her real face and body), she failed at her event tour with Alicia Mccarvell (the event was cancelled because tickets weren't selling), her Canadian Tire cup collection failed and is STILL on sale gathering dust on shelves, Her Reitmans collections failed went on clearance, she failed when she hosted an event for Pandora at the Eaton Centre, no one showed up.
She failed to keep her legs together causing the failure of marriage number two.

She also lost on Traitors Canada, cried like a baby, and no one discussed her on the Traitors reddit. Once again, in the real world, no one cared about her.
What has she won? Maybe on the surface someone would say she is winning something. I don’t see any wins that really matter. But just a scant below there is nothing. What is it to gain the world but lose your soul?
Her followers though are too stupid to figure out the obvious.
