Nice! We need more open source ebook projects. Or just open hardware projects in general.
Ive had my eye on the open book for a LONG time. I tried to get the kits but they were sold out within 1 day if I recall. I was so bummed. I have a couple of ebook readers and even contributed to the https://quill-os.org/ project back in the day. Biggest issue is companies like to change their hardware unfortunately and absolutely NO documentation on what goes on in there or repair-ability. Its still funny to me that Kobo got so popular in the first place as the company basically took the easiest/cheapest route at all times with the ebook readers...and accidentally made one of the easiest ebooks to get into. There was an SD card even you could image right off of it.
