I'm Italian working in Spain. I'm pretty happy with my life during my PhD: I am respected, I am kept in high esteem and I am given all the freedom I want. I do what I want, and when I want to stop working I do that and can go have a walk in the mountains or get a beer with friends.

Pretty good life overall. Much better than while studying for my degree in a big city. I enjoyed a period of my life travelling all the time, but that's something difficult to keep going for many years.
