I hate lodges factory finish it's too bumpy. I take a sander to a new one and get it slick and then season.

I thought I was nuts for wanting to do this. My legacy cast iron is smoooooth.

They don't machine cast iron anymore due to cost.

Older machined pans have a smoother surface
