That behavior is not very fascinating.

Maybe in 1990 this was groundbreaking, but I think a bunch of algorithms that lead to efficient movement is no longer thought of as "life-like behavior".

Edit: Just saw the 1994. Makes a lot more sense now. So this is more of a historical science thing?

Well, i found fascinating that mere computer is able to "learn" the life-like moves, no matter which year it is. Does modern algorithms can do it better?
