I'm not sure how that would demonstrate democracy is a scam? In Los Angeles County (might vary by county, not sure) you just have to fill out a one page form with basic contact information and submit it to be a write-in candidate. That doesn't seem like a huge hurdle.
In California at least, being a registered candidate also lets you give a statement about your political stances that gets printed in the election information booklet that gets mailed to all voters. So it would be kind of dumb to not register, when it's both simple and gives you free voter outreach.
Edit: if you mean the states with no write-ins at all that makes more sense lol
No no it's much better if you left 300 Million people free from writing their own info.
It's funnier that way.
Guarantee you'd have 10% for "Trump". 10% for Donny Trump, some for "Brandon", and so-on and none would count because none are his legal name.
I would love to see who would win though. Spell the name perfectly and in good penmanship or it doesn't count. Let's see if he still loves the poorly educated.
Not sure what you're saying. It sounds like LA county might be similar to my state, which isn't good, not a place where every vote is counted.
In my state (Maine), there's a deadline you have to register before, and you have to pay $10,000 to get votes counted to find out you lost the election if you're not registered (you do get the money back if you win so this would be a really fitting system for Vegas but not here)
If LA county doesn't just automatically count all votes without charging each citizen, then it's insane that you're defending that (and it's easy to see how we get a scam democracy if we are in a democracy of people who are ok with it)
I also wouldn't be surprised if there are issues registration can have, other than the deadline
And my state has ranked choice voting, so I really assumed if any state had actual voting rights, it would be this one
