This is like saying that you don't own a car, you own an SUV. A projector serves essentially the same function as a TV, why are you being judgemental because people want their light box mounted to the wall rather than the ceiling? That's weird.
I mean, owning a TV doesn’t necessarily mean you use the “tuner” part of it. My TV is only connected to my AppleTV. It is exclusively used for streaming and casting, so pretty much the same use case as I imagine your projector has.
Edit: And gaming! Was so focused on the TV part that I forgot 😅
Our TV is my second PC monitor for watching movies.
I don't own a projector and I don't understand why anyone would. Everything is free online, and I have a TV.
