Fun fact: some car speedometers are usually set to show speed faster than what you are actually driving at, which can be tested with GPS. Also, the German Autobahn exists and limits are generally set to prevent accidents when accidents are liable to occur.

When people are generally horrible about determining when they have to drive carefully (or simply because local governments need more funds), they get treated as hard limits, but enforcement and usage varies widely. It and the backlash it would receive is the reason traffic enforcement hasn't begun requiring and/or subpoena'ing people's routes through GPS to automatically fine them when they exceed the limits, something they could easily do in today's world. If you take that as saying that you can drive however you want though, you just need another asshole like yourself to have an accident.

If you drive in germany with this mindset you have a very good chance to get the opportunity to exchange your drivers licence for some bonus points in Flensburg.
