Title is misleading. They have urged members of the military to follow the Uniform Code of Military Justice, which specifies that you must follow lawful orders, and it is not just their right, but their duty to refuse patently unlawful orders. Following orders that are patently unlawful is a crime, even if the President gave those orders. To remove this distinction from the headline is to play into Trump's mischaracterisation of these congress men and women's statement. They are not encouraging insubordination. They are reminding soldiers that they are responsible for themselves and to their oath to uphold the constitution. The White House loves to press the idea that anything less than unwavering submission to Trump's will is treason. That's fucking bullshit. He is bound by laws like anyone else. His word is not law. He is no king. He needs to be reminded of that.
