It's going to be a miserable and weepy end to the week. Tomorrow we have to say goodbye to a very good boy, the bestest of good boys. He's 13yrs old, his hips have gone and he can barely stand now, he's got cataracts and pancreatitis. He's in constant pain and his legs can give out at random, and you hear him wince in pain every time he lays down. We've even had to start feeding him by hand as he's laying down. He's lost a lot of muscle mass over the last 6 months too, and we've tried everything the vets have suggested to make him comfortable and ease the pain. Pain killers, steroids, special food and so forth... But it's time to ease his suffering and we've been agonising over the decision for weeks now.
The vet is going to come to the house and do it, less stress for our boy and he can be on his comfy bed, surround by his toys and us... and as he's not been allowed any treats for ages due to the pancreatitis and some very boring foods... His breakfast tomorrow is going to be fit for a king, I made a beef stock from some huge beef bones I got from the butchers. That's going to make a thick gravy to go with some steak and veggies.... and I've bought the best treats I can for him.
Big hug.
