100000% it would be crazy. If I remember correctly, the xbox one and ps4 weren't really sold as loss leaders, that or they were priced closer to their manufacturing cost.
I have been thinking, I don't think it really matters to them what the consumer does with their machine. I mean, at the end of the day, you're still gonna be buying steam games simply for the service.
Imagine the loss when the US government decides to buy a bunch of em PS3s for their supercomputer —
tbh that was a cool airforce moment. Idk about current day, I doubt anyone would buy a shit ton of steam machines just to make a hpc cluster. BUT it would be cool af :]
