She can’t sing and he can’t lead. Seems like a perfect fit. What’s to say about it? 😂
She's a fine singer, I'm sure you can find some other criticism to use here.
Yeah. I'm not a fan of her. But saying she can't sing seems a bit ridiculous.
She can't sing in a way that's enjoyable to listen to.
That millions of people consider themselves her fans speaks volumes to how wrong you are. I'm a metalhead but to say in absolutes that she can't sing in an enjoyable way is ludicrous.
Just because a lot of people believe something doesn't make it true. Millions of people voted for Trump, I guess they were correct?
You said that she can't make enjoyable music. If millions of people enjoy her music, it's enjoyable.
Millions of people liked Trump, Trump WAS likeable to them when they voted, you can't deny that part. Them choosing the best choice or not is irrelevant to the point you were making. You didn't say that her music was bad or derivative. You said that she can't sing in a way that people enjoy, but people do enjoy it.
So what if a couple billion people don't find it enjoyable? This is a totally plausible possibility btw.
I agree. When her vocals are mixed and auto tuned, she sounds great. I think she puts together some pretty great tracks, but I’ve heard her try to sing without any enhancements and I do not like it. In my opinion, she’s an artist, not a singer.
If someone finds her raw singing enjoyable, more power to them. I didn’t think I had to be super specific that a statement of taste was an opinion. LOL
We’ll have to agree to disagree on the topic. I think she’s a pretty great artist who makes wonderful use of auto tune and other modern music-making marvels, but in my opinion saying she is a singer is a stretch of the imagination.
Look, dude, I'm not a T-Swift fan by any means, but she would not have made it this far if she wasn't a competent singer. Just did a quick search to find her singing live, and I listened to five seconds of this video of her on SNL. She's not an Adele or Mariah Carey or something, but she's fine. She does what she needs to do. Saying she relies on autotune and other studio magic is kind of a silly argument. Everyone uses that these days.

Ah, I see. You're using "not being able to sing" to mean you don't think she sings well. I remember someone saying Ariana Grande had terrible vocals, even though she's ranked among the top vocalists, and though you were doing that too.

The reason for my snark was you being disingenuous and rather condescending. Suggesting that an artist of that caliber would buy their ratings is the most ridiculous attempt at ridicule.

You literally bent what you meant halfway down the thread to fit your narrative and pretended there was no other possible interpretation. Idk where you get that you've been quite clear.
I thought it was quite straightforward. "She cannot sing" isn't the same as "she cannot sing well". If I say "she can't cook", you'd imagine that her cooking is terrible because she lacks basic skills, but if I say "she can't cook well", you'd probably find her cooking tolerable because it's understood that she can do it. It's an interesting bit of backtracking.
Now it's akin to writing a "scholastic research paper on anthropological communication" to point it out. Oh, sure. I thought you "weren't aware" that a phrase could be interpreted any other way and look at you go flexing that fivehead. But I'm the one with an "astounding ability" to be selective about interpreting things. Right, I'm the one doing that.
