I see this, and all I imagine is forced launchers and required account log ins to play your games.
How else you do you imagine them being able to track your purchases across platforms?
I imagine if Sony didn't move to being launcher exclusive they'd do what Microsoft does of buying from the Microsoft store for crossbuy benefits.
And not get that benefit of their copy working on PC and Console if they get the game from Steam or GOG. Which to me is completely fine, and what I hope they do over needing multiple launchers if you buy outside of PSN.
Also might affect release of Sony games on GOG.
For sure. Unfortunately PC gamers wille at that shit right up without a moment's hesitation. Just look at how popular steam is.
You do know that something like 75-99% of games on steam don't have any drm, right? You can play most games right from the exe.
None ive ever purchased have been drm/launcher free. Even binding of Isaac and terraria need that bloated garbage excuse for a launcher open to run.
you probably don't even know what, or where the executable is located for any of those games
Running the app directly through steam/ the freedesktop launcher steam makes should work without internet access

no INTERNET needed, only wifi or hardwired local network
I don't think you've ever tried.
Terraria is precisely the game I ran from executable alone.
