I also want to point out that no honorable person goes into politics (at least not the high levels where they could have high impact) because a lot of people like you always shit on them whatever they do anyways. There's no recognition, there's no thanks from the population, you're always constantly fighting and attacked even by those that you are supposed to care about. Why would any sane person go through this?
I'm asking you to reflect on what you're saying and whether it really helps us get better people into government.
Recognition and thanks for what, though?
Do you want me to congratulate them for not shitting themselves, too? I'll congratulate and thank them when they start actually representing me, instead of capitulating without gaining a single thing at all.
yeah this time it's actually a bad example since they did semi-fuck up. but i've been thinking that thought in general.
If a person is going into politics because they crave fame and recognition, they're a shitty politician and we shouldn't reward that kinda behavior. They certainly aren't honorable.
The people who should go into politics are people with firm principles who have something they believe in, and are willing to potentially take flack in order to achieve those goals. Unfortunately, that mostly describes the Republican party, and their principles suck, but it also describes Zohran Mamdani who should be the new model of Dem.
