What is the deal with US and Venzuela? Are we just throwing darts at a map for us to get into and hiding it like drugs, eating cats and dogs, illegal immigrants, democrats? (lemmy.world)

More than just the distractions and power grabs for oil as mentioned here I think there is still a strong precedent with US foreign policy to fear and thus disrupt as much as possible government who nationalize their resource to the expensive of corporate hegemony and control. Billionaires are in real fear of citizens getting the benefits of their countries resources and not the share holders of first world powers. See Iran in the 60s? See contra movements in central america in the ?forever
