Good and bad of pixel 9 pro fold (aussie.zone)

I like pixel phones, I have had them since they were Nexuses. When the 9 came out and I needed to upgrade I chose the pro fold

The bad first: I'm typing this on my pixel 3 because the 9 pro fold is in bubble wrap in a box waiting for a courier to take it back to Google. Worse, this is the second 9 pro fold I have put in a box with an RMA note to go back. Both died the same way, about 6 months old the inner screen broke along the fold line.

The good: they agreed to replace it pretty quickly when I selected to communicate by message, they took over a month though when I requested a call

There is a Pixel 10 Pro Fold. Although, I don't know that I would recommend it

Edit: Yes this is obviously an extreme test and most people are probably going to be fine most of the time, but I think it's notable that this is the only phone he's done this to that's had such an extreme reaction

Yeah I double checked the pixel 10 line a few moments after I posted, and edited the comment about it out. I guess you read it while I was editing :)

After warrantying two 9 folds in just over a year I'm not buying another folding phone from Google until it's been out a while and has a reputation for lasting

I refuse to do a Pixel 10 of any variety because they removed the SIM card slot. I'm getting really tired of my options being removed so big companies can force us to spend more and/or have more control over how we use their "services."

I should get esims for my two services when i get the replacement phone, they should be reasonably easy to move between devices, definitely easier to do when away from your sim tool. Once I've had some practice with one I'll decide on a cardless phone

Doesn't look like it should be a deal breaker for me

Looks like I'd have to finally retire my pixel 3 to wifi only though, it doesn't appear to support esims. Actually nor does my 4G backup phone. This suggests I should only get my minor service on esim, and keep my main number on a card, or buy a more modern backup phone

~~That's odd. Wikipedia says the pixel 3 has esim support. I must have looked wrongly~~ it's region specific and not in my region

The pixel 10 pro is advertised on my provider's site as supporting ~~micro~~ nano SIM as well as up to two esims (up to two services, not all three at once)

It looks like it's only the US model that has no SIM slot, from a web search
