They're trash and always have been. They're cheap toys for people who don't know what tools are
Which apparently includes you. Tools are functional devices that perform various jobs. Victorinox has always provided that. Writing them off as "trash" and "cheap toys" ignores the fact that they actually work quite well. They offer good designs, decent materials, and excellent quality control. A Victorinox is more than enough tool for most people. They are not going to appeal to steel snobs, but they are solid practical tools at reasonable prices.
My every day blades are customs with blades in S90V and Magnacut. I also carry a heavily customized Leatherman Free P4. I obviously prefer those, but I also have a Victorinox Rambler, Super Tinker, and Outrider that I sometimes carry instead. They have fixed a lot of things for me over the years.
There is a great deal of difference between a Kia and a Lamborghini, but most of the time you just need to get to the store and they will both do that without any problems.
