I feel the devices nostalgia is carried by those who never owned the device.
I had one. It seriously was that tough.
Ive told the story before, but I basically dropped one off a 3rd story balcony onto concrete. It exploded apart into the canonical 3 pieces, but as soon as i got down there and collected them, they all clicked back together and kept working. Used the phone for years after that, no issue.
