I think people just straight up don't appreciate media as art and just treat it as content slop.
Spotify wants you to hit play on an artist and just let it random thru whatever. Music isn't on LPs and Albums with concepts and stories and journeys. just wading through an endless sea of singles completely disconnected from their context and meaning.
I filled the hole from spotify w/ CDs and whatever I could find on BandCamp that I was listening to on Spotify. Music is cheap in relation to the endless subscription of streaming.
People just can't be bothered to give a shit about anything and it's fucking exhausting.
