The party will never move left because people don’t show up to vote in primaries.

The primaries we didn't have last year. The primaries that the party successfully argued in court that it doesn't have to run fairly. The primaries in which the party protects centrist incumbents like coathanger cuellar from all challenges, but won't do shit to protect progressive incumbents like Cori Bush and Jamaal Bowman, since their primary opponents were bought by AIPAC.

Stop gloating that the primaries are run for the benefit of your wing of the party.

And if Dems ever win, the house only barely gets slim a super majority. So no meaningful legislation gets passed.

Stop making excuses.

If Biden had died rather than just being old, noone would've questioned it

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

But he didn't. She wasn't the incumbent, no matter what her supporters say.

[–] WraithGear@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

the fact that biden was running at all with everyone knowing he was unfit is disguising. he wasn’t faring any better the Harris. AND the democrats are currently dog pilling progressive candidates for lower positions right now! what are you guys talking about!

[–] TheFonz@lemmy.world -1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I'm sorry. Either you

a) start your own party and put in the work

b) put in the work and reform the democratic party. Mamdani is doing it. Bernie is doing it. AOC is doing it.

c) Go on Lemmy and complain endlessly about the status quo and dream about some distant utopia in the future.

I know what I see on Lemmy day in and out soooooo....

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I’m sorry.

You're not. You get everything you want out of the democratic party without having to lift a finger. Especially the genocide support.

[–] TheFonz@lemmy.world -2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I see we're back at option (c). Keep at it, man. Some day things will change for you. Cheers.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Condescension after gloating isn't any better.

I don't have the means for a or b and like I said, you get everything you want from democrats without doing anything.

You must be so disappointed now that there's a ceasefire. Don't worry, it won't last. netanyahu's good faith exists in equal abundance to your own.

[–] TheFonz@lemmy.world -2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

I don't know why you attribute things to your interlocutors that are not there. It's a cheap ploy and you do it in every. Single. Conversation. I've. Had. With. You.

It goes like this: TheFonz: "let's reform the Democratic party" Ensign_Crab: "so you like genocide, huh?".

Every. Fucking. Time.

Why?

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

You expect no criticism of a party that supports genocide.

It goes like this: TheFonz: “let’s reform the Democratic party”

You are not advocating for reform. You are advocating for silence from your left.

[–] TheFonz@lemmy.world -2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

When? When did I advocate for silence? I even encouraged you to start your party. I think it's a good thing! You should do SOMETHING. ANYTHING

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I even encouraged you to start your party.

Knowing damned well that very few people have the means to do so. You were gloating from the position of someone who actually has a party that represents your interests.

If the party ever atones for the disgusting genocide support of 2024 and actually starts representing workers for the first time in decades, I'll stop talking about how they're genocide supporters who hate workers.

Don't like it? I will never care.

[–] TheFonz@lemmy.world -2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Hey this is such a strange conversation. I'm not sure where the information is getting lost.

If the democratic party represented my interests, why would I be advocating for its reform? I really am struggling to follow you thought process.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

If the democratic party represented my interests, why would I be advocating for its reform?

Reform doesn't usually involve telling people that their only options are to get out of the party or shut up.

[–] TheFonz@lemmy.world -2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I never said to get out of the party or shut up. I said the opposite.

  1. Get active in the party and work to reform

  2. Start a new party

Neither option is telling anyone to "shut up". I hope that's not what you took from it. However, option 3. Is not acceptable in my wiew: bitch endlessly about the status quo. Yea, it sucks. That's why we want to improve it. We're not giving up. If we can't reshape the democratic party through new blood then we should abandon it and start new. But I don't need to hear endlessly on Lemmy about the status quo. We're all very acutely aware

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

I don't have the resources for either option, as you already knew when you decided to gloat by suggesting them.

I don't care what you consider acceptable, as it's clear to me that the only thing you consider acceptable is a total lack of criticism of the democratic party.

[–] TheFonz@lemmy.world -2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (2 children)

How can I on one hand invite reform of the democratic party and at the same time renounce criticism? That doesn't make any sense. Why did you imply that to begin with? What statement of mine denounced criticism of the democratic party? I'm just saying let's move on. Let's build instead of shiting all day.

Also, what resources are you lacking exactly? I see you whining 24/7 on Lemmy. It's been a year since the election and I still see you writing essays about Harris and Gaza. So clearly you have time to write and be active online. Maybe channel some of that rage into something more constructive and start building? We know Harris sucked a big horse dick. Let's move on.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Also, what resources are you lacking exactly?

Well, money for starters. In case you didn't notice, AIPAC spends a lot of it making sure your party does what you want them to. Also health, but I don't like to bring up personal physical frailty because it's none of your damned business.

We know Harris sucked a big horse dick. Let’s move on.

It wasn't just harris and you know it. It was brought before congress multiple times and every single time, a majority of democrats made it clear that they were in the genocide caucus.

Like I said, I'll drop my criticism of the party when they stop being useless. At this point, I'm glad it bothers you that I won't shut up like you want.

[–] TheFonz@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

For like the fifth time: no one wants you to shut up. The fact that you keep saying this in every response tells me you are not discussing in good faith. After I've clearly laid out to you that that's the opposite of what I say. But yet, you keep repeating it. So I know you're just not good faith at this point.

Sorry you have health issues. You clearly have time to write essays all day on Lemmy. I would say go write an essay about something you want to rebuild, but after this interaction I'm certain you're arguing in bad faith and this is all a joke to you

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

For like the fifth time: no one wants you to shut up.

You provided three options. Two of which were unreasonable and one of which was shut up.

Sorry you have health issues.

Spare me your false pity. You hate me because I want accountability for the party's disgusting unconditional support for the genocide that is the only thing that has ever brought you any joy.

I would say go write an essay about something you want to rebuild

Rebuilding requires trust. I do not trust democrats. I am not netanyahu and they have proven untrustworthy to all other humans.

[–] TheFonz@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

To add to this: Biden was a decrepit fuck who held the party back. Harris was a competent robot that vacillated on Gaza. They all sucked. But we also have new blood coming in. Let's rebuild

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

But we also have new blood coming in.

New blood like David Hogg.

[–] TheFonz@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

I can find ten other candidates that are running to offset established Dems. The fact that I even need to mention this either tells me:

  1. You are intentionally uninformed.

  2. You're not really here to have a good faith discussion

Based on your previous responses where you tried gaslight by pretending I took particular positions which I didn't, I'm certain this is all just a joke and you're here just to troll. Enjoy your little party I'm done with you.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I can find ten other candidates that are running to offset established Dems.

And we both know what advocacy for third parties gets here.

Based on your previous responses where you tried gaslight by pretending I took particular positions which I didn’t

I'll never see you condemn the party for supporting genocide with any level of sincerity.

[–] TheFonz@lemmy.world 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It's fun watching the goal posts move every time. First it's

"you don't condemn the party"

then it's:

"you don't condemn the party enough",

after that it becomes:

"well, if you condemn the party you're not really sincere".

You're just full of shit, aren't ya?

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 0 points 1 month ago

You’re just full of shit, aren’t ya?

I'm sure you'll correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think I've ever seen you condemn the party's support for genocide at all.
