Wii version was mirror / right hand only, it's the HD version on the Wii U that had the default as left-handed map and the Master Mode using the right-handed mirror map, IINM.

Seems crazy not to implement the option in the original. I'm not a game dev, but I imagine it's super simple to mirror the controls or whatever.

Just Nintendo being Nintendo I guess.
