Horst Wessel was a Nazi bully boy who got into a fight with his landlady's friends over unpaid rent. After his death he was elevated to martyr status by Hitler.

a shocking number of americans don't know the first thing about the material conditions and systems failures that led to the second world war. i learned about horst wessel in a library book after i finished college
