So I agree a lot of different things are being said with varying degrees of hoops and I most mostly agree with you. There is a lot of stupid out there.
But the above isn't one of them. The meme ain't great.
The guy justified school shootings by saying a few gun deaths are a worthwhile cost for gun rights. People are quoting him saying that to point out that it's pretty hypocritical to get upset when Mr. "School shootings are acceptable actually" gets shot at a school.
If pointing out that hypocrisy is hate speech, then the original quote is absolutely hate speech.
