just use OpenWRT, it has all the same shit

I'm not a networking expert but OpenWrt on my homelab is pretty fucking awesome

Um ... I have 2 GLI.net OpenWRT routers. Yes, they can do quite a bit of the same stuff. Really, I'm a fan. I paid money for them, twice ... but I would not want to deploy enterprise networks on OpenWRT. When I needed a full gateway for a virtual network, I used OPNsense.
