It was bad enough when they were still a start-up.
Yeah, we get it, Proton does not fit the activist threat model. But neither does Email and PGP in general.
Use QubesOS and SimpleX or Briar or something. For exclusively private use Proton suffices.
Or you could always use Tor to connect to Proton services etc.
Unfortunately complying with such requests is the reality of a legal entity/company within reach...
I'm not saying you should boycott Proton or that there are better alternatives. I'm with Proton myself. It's just annoying how Proton presents itself as better than it is. Especially when you wrote to support in the past and they denied it.
Anyway
Proton also wants to change its headquarters from Switzerland, as laws etc. are currently changing. In other words, they don't want backdoors etc. I'm just wondering where they want to go.
