General community for news/discussion in the UK.

Less serious posts should go in !casualuk@feddit.uk or !andfinally@feddit.uk
More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.

Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

Haha, it's been coming for ages. I'm pretty bored of being treated like some kind of cattle criminal in Sainsbury's, having to go through their gated self checkout system (because it costs too much to employ a human) and obviously scan my receipt to get out because goodness knows after getting absolutely rinsed on prices I have to prove that I've paid too.

Fucking scumbag execs, hope they choke on the profits 👍

In US, you can just skip all the bullshit security legally.

It is a them problem, they need to prove you stole.

I generally tell security politely I get that their owner makes them do this but I don't have to comply with the request. If they got a problem call the police and I will wait to sort it out.

They just wave me out.

Mm but then you're in the US which I think is worse than Sainsbury's

I am not sure tbh... based on how UK treats pro palestine vibes... we still have civil liberties in the US for middle age and older people who got a decent job. for now.
