There's no such thing.
Confirming an email address is how sites protect themselves. They need to be able to track you down if you post something illegal, to cover their own ass.
(Maybe someone will answer to prove me wrong, Cunningham's Law.)
Lemmy allows instance administrators to choose whether or not email is is required for registration. All the Lemmy accounts I have used have been without an email address. I am not sure if PieFed does not offer that option, or if there are simply no anonymous PieFed instances at the moment. Which is totally understandable.
Or another way to look at it is that the users with no email are typically the most disruptive since they can hide behind anonymity. No-email signups are a good way to get stuck in moderation hell.
Getting a new email takes like a whole minute.
Requiring an email does make it harder for spammers though.
Every extra step bad actors have to go through is an incentive to troll somewhere else.
Even most Lemmy instances seem to be getting more strict on their entrance policies these days.
Many say moderation issues will be the downfall of federated platforms.
So expect moderation policies to tighten, not loosen over time.
Anyone who does not enjoy spam and trolling will rejoice at the trend of tighter controls, while anyone who prefers 4chan can still meet their own needs, hopefully not at the expense of the rest of us. I would of course hope for a nice balance between those extremes, and naively would have thought that a simple email address and perhaps quick human test would have been sufficient for that?
I hope a balance can be found too.
Probably have to host their own instance
