Well that's about right for his namesake at the start of the story, at least!

I have a remarkably close parallel to that. My cat is called Alaric. I called him that because he's a black cat and I thought it'd be funny to name him after a Goth. Years after I got him I started dating a woman who just happened to have a cat called Augustus (or Auggie), after the Roman emperor, and it turned out that Alaric hated Auggie
