US was the aggressor and had aided in the killing of thousands of civilians in numerous theatres, this could be phrased if you are being polemic as “the US deserved it.” Do you believe the US is the righteous world police, protecting democracy?

There's a vast gulf between "the US is the righteous world police" and "the US deserved 9/11"; not to mention the extremely questionable nature of many of the stated motives for the attack. At the core, Bin Laden was a religious fanatic whose entire anti-American crusade was kicked off by American troops defending the Saudis in the First Gulf War.
