I used to have really strong object empathy. After my diet change, it reduced a lot.
It would manifest in ways like: if I was shopping and I picked up, say a bag of lemons, only after picking it up, I noticed the bag next to it had lemons with fewer blemishes, I'd want to pick up the other one, but I couldn't because the one I'd already picked up would feel upset. Or if I stubbed my toe on something I'd get angry only then I'd have to mentally apologise to the object for getting angry at it, because it wasn't the object's fault. I also had strong emotional bonds with my comfort objects and it was harder to throw things away, because I'd feel bad for them.
So it wasn't a useful skill in any way, but it was part who I was, so I lost another part of what little identity I have.
