I heard it as Marilyn Manson, not Prince, probably 25 years ago.

Yeah, that was the one that came to my mind when I read the question.

Oh a side note, I find it interesting how these things spread so wide pre Internet. I'm assuming we live on different continents (I'm in Europe).
