Ohio actually sent a ton of people, too. Fully 13% of the entire state at the outbreak of war, served. That is 3rd of any Northern state (NY and PA both were bigger contributors), and if this guy is truly "Appalachian" in ancestry, I'm pretty sure his forefathers would beat him to death where he stands for daring to say that the CSA had any right to exist, let alone siding with them.
