All these stories of plainclothes agents in unmarked vans and I'm just waiting for the article.

That's been my thought as well... It's only a matter of time before they come across an actual gang member or 2A enthusiast and someone catches some lead.

Exactly, I'm not saying I want it to happen, but maybe then they'd at least reconsider their methodology.
