Understanding that the CCP has troll farms isn't a conspiracy theory.
A) 'troll farms,' also known as PR companies exist in all modern countries and most all major companies. They're not a feature of china or Russia. They're not something your supposed enemies are doing out of the evilness and dastardlyness in their hearts.
B) PR companies target wide range forums. There are more users on some BBCode forums for obscure games than the entire (actual) fediverse. There are more American users of Redbook than the entire fediverse. Even if you assume these evil scum just use one individual for their scheme of... Making anti Chinese propaganda look less reasonable... That would be more in wages than it costs to run the entirety of lemmy. Not to mention all other operational costs. We know roughly what these groups get paid, since they're public job postings (and get leaked like Israel's jidf when they're not). They're not cheap enough to was on an audience of, at most, 45k users from across the world, most of whom are already anti American, anti imperialist, and sympathetic to the morals of the CCP if not the actual country due to local propaganda efforts.
