I mean, Clinton just happened to be the ass in the seat when the Dotcom boom hit...
Every economic action he took led us to today's shit show, especially campaign finance reform
And Biden was the ass in the seat after COVID.
Stop acting like people who actively and quantifiably worse were great just because their poor policy wasn't bad enough to stop things they had zero control over.
Blind worship is for Republicans
Clinton raised taxes on the wealthy and cut defense spending, also boosted the earned income tax credit. All of which helped get money moving. But Gramm-Leach-Bliley was a Bad Idea, and NAFTA deeply flawed.
Huh, I never knew Clinton was the president to lead us into a two decade plus war we lost and wasted trillions and trillions of dollars on.
Edit: Fuck the Clintons BTW, but don't act like it was just libs to lead us to where we are today.
Sure.
But the ass in the seat could have privatized and cut government programs instead of letting those programs run and rebuild the economy after the previous republican's cuts.
That said, the ass in the seat ALSO could have built functional and equitable systems, and they chose not to. I'll never forgive Obama for not dismantling the surveillance state built by Bush, and instead expanding and privatizing it.
One side of the ratchet is absolutely worse than the other, but we need to flip the switch to get the ratchet turning in the other direction to improve and rebuild our country. Frankly, we stopped building and growing in the 70s to dump resources into Vietnam and bury our heads in the sand on climate change, and never started back up. Our old systems are full of fossilized racism that we need to grow past, and they are atrophying and collapsing around us. Reagan, the Bushes, and Trump45 accelerated that collapse, and Trump47 is trying to deliver the finishing blow with devastating consequences.
I really hope that our next president isn't just another part of this ratchet, but actually rebuilds our country. We need to help: it shouldn't just be about whose ass is in the seat. We need to rebuild our country together.
