There was an old Soviet joke. American and Soviet guys met at a bar and started talking about each other's countries. American said, "I have a freedom of speech, I can stand in front of the White House and yell "Reagan is an idiot", and nobody will do anything to me". And the soviet guy answered "well, I too have the same freedoms, I absolutely can stand on the Red Square and yell "Reagan is an idiot".

One is known by the citizens the other isn't.
