Apologies, it's still not very clear.
Basically the first Tuesday in November, except if November 1 is a Tuesday, in which case it would be on the 8th because the first Monday would be November 7.
That's just so convoluted. Why do this?
It's because America is big, so they build in a day of travel, when that was still needed.
But it can't be in the weekend because of church, and Wednesday was market day.
So they thought you can start traveling on Monday and vote on Tuesday. And it's in November because it's after the harvest. But not the 1st because that's all saints day.
Ah, that All Saints Day thing makes WAY more sense than my Halloween thing!
Because they don't want (mental) toddlers high on Halloween candy voting? 🤷♀️
I dunno haha. I always wondered that too.
