That's kind of a transphobic thing to say. You're using the same argument as people who say queer representation is political. You have a different idea of what politics is, but you're still teaching people to fear politics, and that's dangerous.
I don't think they were saying associating being trans with being political. They mentioned other takes in their response. Though I don't know what they are referencing, I believe their comment about politics was more towards that than trans.
But I do agree with you.
